Breast Augmentation Using Fat- Natural or Dangerous?

Breast augmentation has been widely performed throughout the world using various methods for many years. Nowadays, breast augmentation Los Angeles using silicone and saline implants remains the most commonly performed technique. Attempts have also been made to use the person’s own tissue for breast augmentation.

One controversial technique that offers a more natural way to enhance breasts is augmentation using person’s own fat. This procedure has been performed for years by some surgeons. The fat is usually obtained from other parts of the body such as abdomen, hips, or back. Breast augmentation using fat takes longer to perform than with implants.

The fat is injected into the breast tissue whereas implants are placed behind the breast or behind the muscle.

Although, breast augmentation using fat may seem more natural and safer, there are serious complications that may result following this procedure. Some of them are cyst formation, calcifications, hard lumps, asymmetry, and breast deformity. Furthermore, there is a great concern that calcifications and cyst formation due to fat transfer may impair detection of breast cancer. There are many reports in the literature of successful as well as unfavorable outcomes of breast augmentation using fat. Many plastic surgeons Los Angeles today believe that breast augmentation using fat should not be performed for cosmetic enhancement. Breast implants Los Angeles remain a safer and more predictable method for breast enhancement.

Do You Breath Well? -Nasal Airway Obstruction

Nasal airway obstruction is very common. In fact many people may not know they have at least a partial nasal airway obstruction as have may have never experienced what it is like to breath well. Many patients presenting to plastic surgeons for nose reshaping or rhinoplasty Los Angeles are diagnosed with a nasal airway obstruction. The patients will typically report that they have no breathing difficulty through the nose. However, during examination a partial nasal airway obstruction is diagnosed. Furthermore on further questioning, it becomes evident that many of such patients do not sleep well at night or even experience worsening breathing during exercises.
There are several causes of nasal airway obstruction. Chronic allergies are a common cause of difficulty breathing. Allergies do not respond to surgical treatment and are treated with medications. Nasal airway obstruction due to a deviated septum or enlarged turbinates (sometimes referred to as “meat”) can be effectively treated surgically during a procedure called rhinoplasty. It poses a surgical challenge for a Los Angele plastic surgeon who is performing cosmetic rhinoplasty Beverly Hills on a patient who also has a nasal airway obstruction. As the nose is made smaller and narrower during rhinoplasty, the patency of nasal airway decreases. Unfortunately there are many patients who do not breath well following their rhinoplasty procedures. Most experienced rhinoplasty surgeons will take measures to also open nasal airways to improve or at least maintain the breathing function of the nose since creating beautiful nose that is blocked is simply a useless nose. Being able to breath well is important is as the quality of sleep, ability to exercise, and the health of the heart all depend on this important function.
